Angry Black Woman Syndrome

You asked me if I had the "Angry Black Woman Syndrome"
(as if it were hereditary and passed down through my X-chromosome
or maybe something I contracted from my sister and mother at home)
You wonder if it's outrageous to think it's contagious
as you flip through the pages of medical books,
looking for a cure
You're unsure if it's a condition
or some type of predisposition
(ever think maybe it's just some type of fiction
designed to compromise
the silent cries of Black women?)
You want to know if it's brought on by a bad night's rest,
everyday stress,
or perhaps, of course, even PMS
and you wonder if there's some type of diagnostic test for it
